Thank you everyone for the really nice comments and private messages last week. I really appreciate all of them. My birthday was exactly everything I wanted it to be. Three days of fantastic music at Floydfest, capped off by my first time ever seeing The Black Crowes on Saturday night. They were pure rock and roll. Just fantastic. A perfect ending to my 40s. On Sunday, my actual bday, instead of going back for the last day of the fest, I called an audible and we went out to an unofficial hummingbird sanctuary instead, and just sat and watched them. It was the most hummingbirds I’ve ever seen, by infinity. And then driving home we saw SEVEN rainbows. On my 50th birthday, the most hummingbirds AND the most rainbows I’ve ever seen. Really mind blowing.
My partner got me the absolute best gift…a Cameo video from Ben Sinclair, the creator and star of High Maintenance. (*If you’ve never seen High Maintenance, I can’t recommend it highly enough. There’s two different listings on HBO and prime…you have to watch the web series first). It’s one of the nicest shows, and I rewatch it over and over again when I want to feel good. I actually started out my birthday morning with two of my favorite episodes of Adventure Time. And then two episodes of High Maintenance, and then I ate some cake and opened my presents. I screamed when this was one of them.
Greatest birthday I’ve ever had. Take that 6 year old me.
